Women Life Scientists as Entrepreneurs

Women Life Scientists

as Entrepreneurs

Women make up almost half of life science researchers but a much smaller proportion of life sciences entrepreneurs are women. A small but slowly growing number of women scientists are starting businesses and succeeding. Advantages of entrepreneurship include

  • Being the decision-maker
  • Getting to work on what you care about
  • Reaping the rewards for your ideas and hard work.

Women who have started businesses say that situations have improved, but they still experience some bias, barriers, and unfair treatment. Fortunately, there are many organizations and initiatives supporting women who are interested in becoming entrepreneurs.
