Clinical Tools, Inc. and its simulation division, Health Impact Studio, create online training to educate healthcare providers and scientists to improve patient care and support career development. We combine research, medicine, science, and leading-edge technology to create timely, relevant, accurate, and engaging learning activities delivered anywhere, anytime via the internet.
Dissemination
Clinical Tools, and its simulation division Health Impact Studio, envisions that BiostartupAdvice.com will be sold to entrepreneurial support organizations both inside and outside the university community, the biotechnology community, and women’s life scientist and STEM groups as a career counseling and development tool. This will allow free use for life scientists through their organizations.
Our Team

Mary P. Metcalf, PhD, MPH
Leadership & Training Expertise (CoPI)
Dr. Mary Metcalf brings her training and experience as a woman in leadership to this project. Her Masters in Leadership (MPH) is combined with 20 years as a small business leader, service on the boards of three nonprofits (including as president), and leadership roles in advisory boards for local government and school districts. She is currently a Navigator /mentor for other small businesses.

Karen Rossie, DDS, PhD, MS
Life Scientist Turned Mentor & Coach (CoPI)
Dr. Karen Rossie is a dentist with a Masters in Pathology and PhD in Psychology. Before working at CTI, she taught and conducted medical research for 13 years at the University of Pittsburgh, School of Dental Medicine. Through these experiences, she developed an understanding of the concerns facing women biomedical researchers and motivations for career change.

Nora Nelson, BA
Design & Technology
Nora Nelson is a graphic designer and web developer. A degree in Visual Communication with a New Media minor was a springboard for her to tackle everything from web design to programming. She brings expertise in CSS, HTML5, LearnDash, and Adobe software including Adobe XD and mad spreadsheet skills to the project. Nora covers development, creation and maintenance of the simulations and web elements for the project.

Bradley Tanner, MD, ME, MBA
Entrepreneur & Small Business Owner (CoPI, Contact PI)
Dr. Bradley Tanner is a psychiatrist and studio head of Health Impact Studio. In this role, he guides the development and evaluation of novel technological solutions to address health challenges including burnout, stress, and depression seen in medical professonals. He has led 2 small businesses, with over 30 years of experience. He currently works as a locums physician and consultant.
